Laughter is the best medicine

One thing I've come to feel is that the Japanese sense of humor is rather similar to that in China, Taiwan, Hong Kong or Singapore. Or maybe it's just me misunderstanding the punchlines.

Humor comes in many forms--from the subtle to the very much in-your-face; it doesn't have to be verbal, and is not limited by genres. One of my former managers was an expert in the 親父ギャグ(oyaji gag), a genre that relies on bad puns. With his deadpan delivery and sudden, exaggerated facial expressions, most people cringe at his jokes but I would be rolling on the floor, almost in tears. In the vocabulary of my high school, he was 很屁.
